newsletterLLCRAS CONSTITUTION To work for the best interest and welfare of the community. To strengthen co- operation and promote cordial relations between members.

We are happy to share with you some things that the LLCRAS have been working on for the Loon Lake

Community; in spite of COVID-19 restraints.

We successfully updated our website  www.loonlakecommunity.ca and rolled it out on May 1st, 2020. We hope you find the website informative and helpful with our shop local, local services, fundraising events sections and more. Contact  loonlakecommunity@gmail.com to add to shop local, local services or for any questions or suggestions for the website.

We are hosting a physical distancing Photo Contest; contest rules and details on our website. Please enter for a chance to win lots of great prizes! Contest runs from May 1st to September 30th 2020.

Meat pie fundraiser; see website for online ordering or contact Gail Smith at 250-459-0083 to place an order. Pies are $5.00 each. Order deadline is June 23, 2020 for delivery to your Loon Lake door step on or before July 1st. For special delivery/pick up arrangements please contact Gail Smith or Mo Passley.

LLCRAS would not be as successful as they are without your hardworking Executive and Directors and the many Volunteers who help out with all types of tasks. We are reaching out to our membership to find Volunteers for the Repairs and Maintenance Committee. We have two long time members in this committee; Ray Pullen and George Malmsten who could use some help to lighten the work load. LLCRAS requires someone(s) to make a wooden recycling station to hold the recycling bins outside; erect the Loon Lake Community signs on the community hall grounds; sand and  paint the picnic tables; mow and weed eat the grounds on a regular or rotating basis; ensure garbage removal after events, minor repairs and maintenance to the inside/outside of the community hall as needed. If you’d like to be on the Repairs and Maintenance Committee or if you can help occasionally with a task or project please let us know at  loonlakecommunity@gmail.com or call Karen at 250-459-2281. Loon Lake Community Work Bee Dates: Saturday May 30 & Wednesday June 3;  10 am to noon. See you there!

LLCRAS Sunshine sent seven thank you cards to the Members of the Loon Lake Volunteer Fire Department who recently left the fire protection service. Some of these Members have served for many years, including during the Elephant Hill Wildfire that ravaged Loon Lake in 2017. Their service to our community is greatly appreciated.

LLCRAS has contacted Sally Watson, TNRD Director, requesting she look into the possibility of the internet service providers apply for an NDIT grant to bring high speed internet to our community. We have mentioned that we have fiber optics in the ground right up to Rensch Road. Let’s hope Sally can get this done on our behalf. Our LLCRAS Secretary will also be following up with letters to the major Internet Service Providers.

Regards, Karen Macdonald LLCRAS President on behalf of the Executive and Board of Directors
