Loon Lake is nestled between the Bonaparte Plateau to the north and west and the Arrowstone Hills to the south and east.
Access to the lake is gained by turning east off Highway 97 between the Villages of Cache Creek and Clinton.
The turnoff is well marked on Hwy # 97, with signage indicating an 18 km travel on paved road through the Loon Creek Valley.
